The problem with stitching AI clips
Each AI clip is a self-contained, perfectly exposed little film. Cut them back to back and they fight: the light flips, the grain changes, the eyelines drift. A cohesive short film is built in the edit, not in the generate.
Lock the look first
Before you cut a single frame, grade everything to a shared baseline: matched contrast, matched black point, and one grain plate over the whole piece. Inconsistency hides under a unified grade.
A repeatable editing order
- Assemble for story, not for beauty. Put the clips in narrative order before you touch a single transition.
- Match cut on motion. Let movement carry across the cut, a subject exiting frame right enters frame left.
- Trim the handles. AI clips have soft first and last frames. Cut into the usable middle.
- Grade to one look. Apply your shared baseline grade across the sequence.
- Add sound last. Sound is where AI most often shows. Layer room tone, movement, and one musical motif.
